In Support of Autumn’s Family

Autumn’s Family
Hello family and friends! I hope this message finds you well. 🙏🏼✨

I’m a disabled and neurodivergent single mom raising two bright, loving little girls who mean absolutely everything to me. 🩷 My girls have additional neurodivergent, sensory and regulation needs, so having a stable, predictable and lower-stimulation home environment is especially important for our family.

For the past several months, I have been trying to navigate increasingly concerning problems in our apartment, including recurring water intrusion, electrical concerns and ongoing repairs that have yet to give me confidence that the underlying issues have been fully resolved.

Throughout this time, I have continued documenting the problems, communicating with property management, seeking legal guidance, requesting disability-related accommodations, and reaching out to community and tribal resources for help.

In the meantime, my girls and I have been staying off and on with family because I haven’t felt comfortable having us remain in the apartment while these concerns continue. Unfortunately, staying with family has not been a safe, stable or sustainable long-term solution, and constantly moving between environments has been incredibly difficult for all three of us.

Traditional communal shelter options have not been able to appropriately accommodate our family’s needs. In addition to our sensory and regulation needs, I have physical limitations that can make stairs and carrying belongings difficult, and my girls have a history of elopement, which means I also have to consider their physical safety when determining whether a temporary living environment will work for us. We need a private, predictable and relatively quiet space where my girls can safely sleep, decompress and maintain their routines while I continue advocating for a permanent resolution to our housing situation.

Asking publicly for help is incredibly vulnerable for me. I have spent months trying to navigate this through the appropriate channels, but I’ve reached a point where I cannot carry all of this alone.

My goal is to raise $5,000 to help provide safe temporary lodging and basic necessities for my girls and me while I continue working toward a stable, long-term solution.

Every contribution can give us something incredibly important right now: breathing room, stability and a place where we can simply be together while I keep advocating for a solution. 🩷
