Hello,
Over the past month, our lives have completely changed. Our sweet Amelia, just one year old, was recently diagnosed with GM1 Gangliosidosis Type 1, a rare, neurodegenerative, and fatal genetic condition. This disease causes progressive developmental delays, feeding difficulties, muscle weakness, and other severe complications. Sadly, doctors have told us that the life expectancy for children with this condition is only 2 to 3 years.

This disease causes progressive developmental delays, feeding difficulties, muscle weakness, and other severe complications. Sadly, doctors have told us that the life expectancy for children with this condition is only 2 to 3 years.
Amelia was recently hospitalized for one month at Cook Children’s Hospital in Texas, where she underwent extensive testing, genetic studies, and treatments to stabilize her condition. While we are grateful for the medical care she received, this unexpected hospital stay has brought significant financial challenges to our family.
On top of the hospital costs, caring for a child with a disability involves ongoing therapies, specialized equipment, medications, and frequent medical appointments. Additionally, due to Amelia’s rapid decline and long hospitalization, I had to leave my job to dedicate myself fully to her care.
These combined expenses have placed an enormous financial burden on us, but our focus remains on giving Amelia the best quality of life possible and ensuring she receives the care and comfort she needs.
We are so grateful for everyone’s support, prayers, and kindness during this journey. Every message, every share, and every donation helps us continue to provide Amelia with the love and care she deserves.

Hola familia y amigos.
Ayúdanos a darle a Amelia la oportunidad de seguir luchando 💜 Nuestra pequeña Amelia está en Cook Children’s Hospital en Texas. Su condición ha empeorado; ahora necesita un tubo de alimentación porque corre el riesgo de aspirar comida. También, debido a un rinovirus, no pueden realizarle un MRI ni colocarle el G-tube por ahora. Amelia no puede regresar a Puerto Rico porque allá no tendría el mismo cuidado médico. Así que, decidimos mudarnos a Texas para que ella siga recibiendo el tratamiento necesario.
Sin embargo, el plan médico solo cubre emergencias y no todos los gastos médicos y personales que tenemos. Cada aportación, por pequeña que sea, nos acerca un poco más a asegurar el bienestar de Amelia. Gracias a todos por sus oraciones, mensajes, donaciones y gestos de apoyo. Con tu ayuda, Amelia puede seguir recibiendo los tratamientos que necesita para seguir avanzando. 🙏🏼
