Meet Celeste.
Celeste is an amazing 11-year-old who is joyful, outgoing, and full of personality. She loves to talk, connect, and be right in the middle of everything—truly a social butterfly at school and in her community.
Her mom, Courtney, loves her deeply and wants to make sure Celeste can continue to be part of the world around her—not watching from the sidelines, but fully included in it.
As Celeste has grown, everyday transitions have become physically difficult and unsafe. Lifting her in and out of the car and wheelchair is no longer something that can be done safely or sustainably.
This is where a wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) becomes so important. It would allow Celeste to be safely and securely transitioned in and out of the vehicle, while also reducing the physical strain on her mom and caregivers. It creates the freedom to go places without the added stress, planning, and risk that currently comes with every outing. As Celeste continues to grow, her needs will grow with her—power wheelchairs, often weighing up to 400 pounds, are likely part of her near future, making an accessible vehicle even more essential. But more than anything, this is about giving Celeste the ability to stay connected, maintain her independence, and continue being part of the life happening all around her.
A newly modified wheelchair accessible vehicle typically ranges from $70,000 to $90,000+, making this a significant but life-changing investment for families like Celeste’s.
We have the opportunity to come together and make this possible. Follow along for updates on Celeste’s journey, share her story to help expand her reach, and be part of helping her access the world around her. Because every child deserves the chance to go, connect, and belong. 💛
