Wendy is doing great. They walked around the recovery area, and Chris and Wendy had dinner together tonight. The 2 part procedure went well; no issues in surgery. She is now receiving antibiotics and pain meds in her room. They want to thank all the family and friends that showed support...it has meant the world to Wendy as she recovers. ❤️🙏


Hi Family and friends, I just wanted to let y’all know what's been happening recently.

Wendy was diagnosed with stage 0 ductal carcinoma, a type of breast cancer that needs to be removed but won't spread. While she was at MD Anderson for a quick follow-up, doctors found another area of concern, which turned out to be stage 1 invasive ductal carcinoma. Luckily, her lymph nodes seem clear, but they'll check during her surgery on July 31st.

She'll have a mastectomy during this surgery. Reconstruction will be in approximately 6 months. We won't know about radiation and/or chemo until her pathology results come back from the lab post-surgery.  Wendy is strong and stays positive, even though she feels a bit scared. The whole family is rallying around her as she prepares for this journey. We will hold Wendy and family in our prayers. We pray that the doctors, nurses, and Oncologist give Wendy the best care they can. We ask those around Wendy to advocate for her throughout this chapter.

How you can best help:
 
The Perez Family eats at different times, and the most helpful option is Gift cards. This way the family can eat on their timeline, and they don't have to worry about food storage. HEB and Walmart would be a great help.

Wendy will have multiple surgeries in the upcoming year, and sending the family support in the form of gift cards for the 2 weeks after each surgery will help make sure everyone is fed and a little less stressed about "what are we eating for dinner?" The goal would be to have $25-50 per day to cover lunch and dinner for 4.
