Hello, family and friends and dear guests of Table at the Lake.

Valerie Blokker recently suffered a hemorrhagic stroke that affected the use of her left hand, with only her thumb and index finger functioning properly. She needs ongoing physical and occupational therapy, and doctors are working hard to figure out how much function she can regain. A cardiac loop recorder has been implanted to find the cause of the stroke, and she is being closely monitored for atrial fibrillation. Valerie is also receiving follow-up care from her cardiology and neurology teams. Right now, she can't work or drive, and we don't know when she'll be able to return. This has caused a serious financial problem because of lost income and medical bills.
