Help our friend keep his house and business property!
A good friend of mine, Todd Cuzzort, aka @nocomply to his online Discord friends, is a few days away from losing both his house and the business property on the town square to a Tax Sale on Monday. He has a buyer for the house that would generate enough funds to cover the delinquent taxes, but unfortunately, the home sale won’t occur for another 2 weeks because the buyer is out of town. Since the Tax Sale occurs before that, Todd stands to lose both properties entirely!
Now, Todd and his family did get to move into a relative’s home, so they do have a roof over their heads. Todd owns both the house and his commercial building free and clear, so losing them to the tax auction would be a loss of about $150k, when they would both otherwise sell down the road. They had planned to rent out the shop in two units for a few years, then sell it. That is all in jeopardy now.
My name is Mary Jones, aka @mahwee, and I met Todd online during the Pandemic on a Discord server created by the board game publisher Button Shy. We had both developed a shared interest in collecting their novel card games packaged inside wallets. To get us through the worst of the Pandemic, we regularly checked in with each other on our latest and greatest finds from the vast Button Shy library of games. In the years since, I have watched Todd spread his passion and love for his online community in some truly remarkable ways. He would regularly give away extra games from his collection to those who were looking to fill gaps in their collections, always with words of encouragement and pure joy for the family he had found in us.
Todd is a rare find in this day and age. He’s a model of charity and giving, which is why the news that he was in dire, financial straits hit me so hard. He would never think to ask anyone to help him, so I offered to set up a fundraising campaign on his behalf. After all the hope, joy, and gifts that he has extended to his friends and family over the years, I thought it only fitting that we return the favor.
In order to save both his properties, Todd needs to raise $5,700 by this Friday, October 2, 2026, at 4:00 pm CST. If he misses that deadline, the fall tax installments and penalties will be added and he will owe an additional $1,400 by Monday, October 5, 2026 at 9:30 am CST, bringing the grand total to $7,100 at that time. It’s my sincere hope that we can collectively help him reach the $5,700 goal in the next 3 days for the best possible outcome.
Would you share our support page today? The biggest help you can provide is getting more eyes on it. He has even generously offered to repay people once the home sale goes through. In his own words, “I know it's a tall order but I can't not at least try, you know. When you give up, you admit defeat. I'd rather lose trying than to just give up.” All donations are welcome and greatly appreciated. Thank you!
