Hurricane Isaias unfortunately won this battle, leaving the Woy family facing the unimaginable after a tree fell on their home.
If you have ever had the privilege of knowing Peggy and her beautiful family, you know they are truly one of a kind. They are among the most compassionate, generous, and selfless people in our community. They are the ones who show up without being asked, give without expecting anything in return, and somehow always find a way to make life a little brighter for everyone around them.
But now, the family who has always been there for everyone else is facing a battle of their own.
As if having a tree fall on their home wasn't devastating enough, they are now at the mercy of the insurance process. Every day brings more waiting, more uncertainty, and more unanswered questions. They are left wondering when they will finally be able to return to their own home, even if only to sift through the wreckage and discover what belongings, memories, and pieces of their lives survived the storm.
Imagine not being able to walk through your own front door. Imagine not knowing what treasured family memories can be saved. Imagine having your entire world turned upside down and being unable to do anything but wait.
And then there's Peggy.
Peggy is the absolute epitome of Superwoman. A woman whose heart knows no limits, whose strength is nothing short of remarkable, and whose love for her family is evident in everything she does. She is the person who carries everyone else, even when her own shoulders are heavy. She is the one who finds a way to keep going, even when life gives her every reason to fall apart.
But here's the thing about Superwoman: even she deserves to take off her cape sometimes. Even she deserves someone to catch her when the weight of the world becomes too much.
Peggy and her family have spent so much of their lives being a blessing to others. Now, it's our opportunity to be a blessing to them.
We cannot undo the storm. We cannot replace every treasured memory or take away the uncertainty they are facing. But we CAN remind this beautiful family that they are not alone.
Because when someone has spent their life being everyone else's Superwoman, it's time for the rest of us to become her superheroes โค๏ธ
