Thank you all for taking the time to stop and read! To those who are unfamiliar with our circumstances, we had received some very disheartening news about baby girl in utero just last week. She was diagnosed with spina bifida (L-4 through S-5), leaving many people paralyzed from the waist down along with other tragic impacts on the brain later in life. This news rocked our entire family. 
Because Washington state does not currently provide in-utero repair for spina bifida, we were referred to a hospital in Houston Texas. With a Fetoscopic surgery, her chances of walking and reversing further brain damage go up to around 50%. Data also shows that in utero repair makes a tremendous difference on the impact this disability has in a child’s life. Knowing this we decided to fight for every single opportunity she has, however insurance was very much out of network in Houston given the distance. We were looking at having to pay $65,000 upfront before surgery even began, otherwise there was no chance of getting her the help she needs. This surgery must take place before the 26th week of pregnancy and we are now approaching week 25. The window of opportunity was closing so we decided to start a Supportnow account and raise funds as best as possible.
After driving for 18 hours, on our trip to Texas we received news from my sister that she and her husbands team had gathered information, done some digging and discovered that Oregon state has just started performing these Fetoscopic repairs and are currently taking part in a research trial. We immediately called the hospital in Portland to clarify and get answers. By nothing short of a miracle, the nurses and doctors coordinated a time to see us the very next day and start an evaluation process. They are willing to perform the surgery without any money down upfront and we are still getting clarification on whether insurance will cover, though our odds are looking good. With a condition like this, there are ongoing surgeries and therapies that will not be covered even if insurance does. Nicu costs for after this delivery can sky rocket into the 6 figure digits and sadly insurance does not cover nicu stay. But the most important thing is that baby will get surgery she needs before the window closes. I am so deeply grateful and touched by every single one of you that have shown us love and support. God has truly been good to us. The money that we have received so far will go to support her nicu care and stay and possibly the cost of her surgery. Any further support we get will also be allocated to this care for her🙏
