Help Us Build Ray of Hope Ranch: A Place of Healing for Veterans
Every day, veterans return home carrying invisible wounds. Many struggle with PTSD, depression, isolation, and the difficult transition back to civilian life. Some feel disconnected from the world around them. Some lose their sense of purpose. And far too many fight these battles alone.
My dream is to create a place where they can find healing, hope, purpose, and community again.
That place is Ray of Hope Ranch.
This mission is deeply personal to me.
I lost my father, Ray, to suicide, and the weight of that loss is something I carry with me every day. I know firsthand the devastation that comes when someone you love feels trapped in darkness and cannot find a way out.
That is why this ranch will bear his name.
I want his memory to become part of something that helps others find their way through the darkness he couldn’t.
Military service also runs deep in my family. My husband and his father both served in the military. Five of our ten children have chosen to serve as well, with two still actively serving today.
Over the years, I’ve watched loved ones come home and quietly struggle with the transition back into civilian life. I’ve seen the loneliness, the loss of identity, the depression, and the invisible battles that often go unseen by the rest of the world.
Those experiences changed me.
Twenty years ago, I began my own journey toward health and transformation. After losing more than 200 pounds, I became a personal trainer and have spent the last 17 years helping people improve their physical health, rebuild confidence, and navigate some of life’s most difficult seasons.
Again and again, I’ve witnessed the connection between physical activity, purpose, community, and healing.
All of these experiences—my father’s memory, my family’s military service, and my life’s work—have led me to one vision:
A homestead therapy ranch where veterans living with PTSD can reconnect with themselves, with others, and with hope.
At Ray of Hope Ranch, veterans will have opportunities to experience healing through:
• Equine-assisted activities and connection with animals
• Therapeutic gardening and working with the land
• Fitness and movement programs designed to build strength and resilience
• Homesteading skills that create confidence and purpose
• A supportive community where no one has to walk alone
We envision a peaceful place with horses, gardens, orchards, walking trails, animal pens, and open spaces where veterans can step away from the pressures of everyday life and focus on healing.
We have already secured $325,000 toward making this vision a reality.
The property we hope to purchase has the acreage and resources needed to support this mission, including space for stables, gardens, orchards, livestock, and future program expansion. The property is listed at $900,000, and we are raising funds to help close that gap and establish Ray of Hope Ranch.
Every contribution, no matter the size, moves us one step closer to creating a place where veterans can find hope, healing, purpose, and community.
If you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign with others is an incredible way to support this mission.
Transparency
This is currently a personal fundraiser and is not yet operated through a registered nonprofit organization. Donations are not tax-deductible at this time.
All funds raised will be used toward the purchase and development of property for Ray of Hope Ranch. If we are unable to reach the full fundraising goal, funds will be applied toward securing a property that allows us to begin serving veterans, though a smaller property may require scaling back some of the amenities and programs envisioned for the ranch.
Thank you for believing in this dream and helping us create a place where hope can take root and healing can begin.
With gratitude,
Laura Teer
