We are the Menchion/Croom Family, and we're organizing this campaign for someone we love deeply, Latisha Croom. Latisha is a single mother of three and a proud grandmother. She recently finished a brave battle against Stage 2 breast cancer, fighting with more courage than we knew one person could carry. She is celebrating ringing the bell, marking the end of her treatment, but she still needs support to fully recover and thrive.
Hi, my name is Latisha. In November 2025, I was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. In an instant, everything changed for me, my three children, and my granddaughter. As a single mom, there was no second income to fall back on. It was me, my faith, my family, including my son serving in the military, cheering me on from afar, and a fight I didn't choose.

Six Months of Fighting
For the past six months, my family and I traveled back and forth to Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa every week for chemotherapy treatment. Chemo is brutal on the body, but the financial weight has been just as heavy:
- Rental cars and gas for every trip to Tampa
- Hotel stays for overnight treatments
- Meals on the road, week after week
- Everyday bills that never stopped, even when my income did
Through it all, I've been on unpaid leave from work. Exhausting my short-term disability. Depending on family while the medical and travel expenses kept mounting.
The Victory — and the Next Battle
On June 3rd, surrounded by love, I rang the bell at Moffitt. Chemotherapy: DONE. I cried, I laughed, I thanked God.
But later this month, I face the biggest step yet: a bilateral mastectomy with breast reconstruction. My doctors have ordered at least 6 weeks of strict recovery: no working, no lifting, no caring for my household. And because reconstruction and healing happen in stages, my full recovery and return to work will realistically take about 6 months.
That means half a year more, as a single mom, with Zero income — while recovering from major surgery.
Why $25,000?
We want to be fully transparent about where every dollar goes. $25,000 covers roughly six months of Latisha's essential needs — about $4,150 per month:
- Rent and utilities — keeping her home stable while she heals
- Groceries and household essentials for her family
- Transportation to follow-up appointments and reconstruction procedures in Tampa
- Outstanding travel and medical debt from six weeks of treatment
What your gift covers:
- $120 — a tank of gas to a follow-up appointment
- $90 — a utility bill
- $150 — a week of groceries
- $500 — a meaningful piece of a month's rent
