In Support of The Lucas Family

Greetings to anyone reading this!

     We're the Lucas Family, and we have very bad luck it would appear! After spending years trying to get back on our feet again after losing everything in Hurricane Ian, we are back in limbo, dangerously close to homelessness again, more now than ever before, but much like before, it's not because of anything we've done, but because of something completely out of our control...

We were devastated by a career taken from my husband, along with healthcare we desperately need. It was sudden and unexpected and we're still navigating it while desperately trying to find income. We have no family support, no time to wait for government assistance, and not enough help (it's just my husband and I desperately looking for work that's not there.) It's not the two of us we're worried about though: I'm six months postpartum - my infant son still has several specialists he needs to see, along with routine care for his older sisters we can no longer afford. We're skipping meals and necessary bills so our kids can eat. We can't afford anything because we never had a chance to build savings since the storm. All of our money has always gone to bills, rent, and our kids. We have one car and live in a 450ish sq ft 1/1 apartment. The girls have the bedroom and beds, and the baby has a bassinet he's outgrown but nowhere else safe to sleep, and my husband and I sleep on a mat on the floor. We've entered our baby boy in the Baby of the Year 2026 my husband in the SuperDad charity competition charity competition and my husband in the SuperDad charity competition before this happened almost two weeks ago. We did this not for us, but to help countless children through donations to Baby2Baby and Children's Miracle Network. Now, we are finding we may desperately need the respective prizes of $25,000 for each, whereas before, we just wanted to help by donating ourselves and putting a down payment on a house after so much hard work and years of getting back up after being knocked down. In case we can't get back up, I wanted to start this if there's a chance the community or strangers would be able to help...we just don't know what to do this time while we wait and look for work...we're afraid. We're reaching out because we don’t know what else to do.
