I have been experiencing health issues for some time but recently they significantly got worse to the point that I had to take an unpaid medical leave from work because I was unable to continue working due to the amount of pain I was in.
I was having a hard time getting a diagnosis until recently. Doctors weren't quite sure what was wrong just that I might have an autoimmune disorder and wanted to keep waiting for me to get worse and more symptoms to show. I was finally diagnosed with having Lupus after the 4 years However, we are behind on bills and I am separating from my husband and need to save up to find a new place to live. Though all of this I have continued to try to remain positive and my husband and I are separating amicably and trying to do what’s best for our kids. I believe a lot of moms deserve the $1000 more than me. Their community ties are probably stronger than mine. I was very active with my 4 children’s school prior to becoming ill. I was working for Sacramento county as a Calfresh/Medi-Cal eligibility worker and processed applications for members of our community that need public assistance. Prior to that I worked providing eligibility to parents needing assistance to help pay for their childcare. I have always worked in jobs that gave back to our community helping those that were in need of public assistance programs. Often times while I was still needing assistance myself as a single mom or after I did get married as a family of low income with 4 kids. I still have always tried to give back. I never thought that my life would change so much in the last 2 years and that my health would decline so fast. I didn’t expect the financial hardship of my diagnosis to be so significant to the point of being almost homeless. Having a $1000 won’t solve my entire issue but it would help more thank you know.
