On August 18th, at 39 weeks pregnant, my brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Kaysey, went to the hospital and were given the devastating news that their baby’s heartbeat could no longer be found.

After more than 24 hours of intense labor, Spencer Drew made his appearance earthside on August 19th at 11:49 AM. He weighed 8 lbs 15 oz and measured 21¾ inches long.

There are no words to adequately express the pain, heartbreak, and unanswered questions Mike and Kaysey are facing. They should be bringing their sweet baby home. Instead, they are planning his funeral and trying to navigate a loss no parent should ever have to experience. Mike and Kaysey also have two other young boys who hardly comprehend the loss of a promised baby brother. Our entire family is heartbroken as we navigate this tragedy together.

Their family has already endured so much in the past few weeks. Following the storms that came through on August 11th, their home was without power for 14 days, creating a significant financial burden and adding even more stress to an already difficult time.

If you know Mike or Kaysey personally, you know what incredible parents and genuinely wonderful people they are. Right now, they need time, space, and privacy to grieve together as a family. We kindly ask that you respect their privacy and allow them to process this tragedy without questions or expectations to respond.

If you are able, any donation—no matter the amount—would mean so much and help ease some of the financial pressure while they take the time they need to grieve. If you are unable to donate, sharing this post, sending love, or simply keeping them in your thoughts and prayers is just as meaningful.

Please keep Spencer’s parents, his brothers, and our entire family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Thank you for loving Spencer, supporting his family, and surrounding them with kindness during the darkest time of their lives. ❤️
