Meet Emelia: Pure Sunshine, Pure Strength
In her short time on this earth, Emelia has already shown a kind of strength and joy that most of us spend a lifetime searching for. Born with Down syndrome and an AV Canal heart defect, her journey began with challenges far bigger than she is, yet she has met every single one with courage, grace, and the brightest spirit.
At just 8 months old, Emelia underwent open-heart surgery. Through every appointment and moment of uncertainty, she has continued to shine. Her resilience is undeniable, her presence magnetic, and her smile… truly the kind that lights up a room and softens every heart in it.
Why We’re Raising $10,000
As Emelia continues her recovery from heart surgery and faces ongoing medical care throughout 2026, our goal is to raise $10,000 to support post-surgical expenses and future medical needs. This support will help ensure that her parents can focus on what matters most, Emelia’s growth, health, and happiness, rather than the financial strain that often accompanies complex medical care. This fundraiser also helps raise awareness by connecting individuals and families on similar journeys to trusted foundations of support, including Best Buddies, Global Down Syndrome, Rod’s Heroes, The Children’s Heart Foundation, and beyond, strengthening a broader community of advocacy, inclusion, and care.
Why Project JJ
The Clotfelter family believes in the power of community, in showing up for families like theirs who walk a path filled with both extraordinary joy and very real challenges. Project JJ exists for children like Emelia and families like hers. By surrounding them with resources, love, and an entire community cheering her on, we hope to lighten the load and amplify the light she already shines so brightly.
