In Support of A friend in Need

My sweet friend moved to Texas for a job and the hope of building a better life. Instead, the past several months have brought circumstances no one should have to endure. In February, she experienced a traumatic sexual assault at her workplace. Since then, she has been trying to pick up the pieces, support herself, and keep moving forward while struggling to find steady income. Recently, it finally seemed like things were beginning to turn around. She was offered a great position and was ready to start, but her background check cleared just one day too late. By the time it came through, the company had already been forced to fill the position. Now she has reached a crisis point. She was evicted from her home on Tuesday and filed for bankruptcy on Friday. She has only a few days remaining in her home, no steady income, no money to move, and no family or support system here in Texas. At this point, she simply wants to go home. She wants to return to her home state, where she can be surrounded by people she knows and loves, have a support system again, and begin rebuilding her life. Thankfully, she has transportation. What she doesn't have are the funds necessary to make the move and get established once she arrives. Money raised will help cover the immediate expenses of getting her safely home, including gas, food while traveling, moving costs, and most importantly, the rent and security deposit needed to secure a new place to live once she gets there. Any additional funds will help with basic necessities as she gets settled, searches for steady employment, and begins rebuilding. Asking for help is incredibly difficult for her. She has fought hard to make things work here, but right now she needs a helping hand to get home to the people who can support her through this next chapter. If you can give, no amount is too small. After everything she has been through, our hope is simply to help her get home safely, put a roof over her head, surround her with people who care about her, and give her the opportunity to start again with support by her side.
