In Support of Stephanie Reineke

Hi everyone!

Stephanie and I need your assistance with a wheelchair van, retrieving our things from North Carolina, and home health aides.

The Long Story: 
Last October, Stephanie had renal failure and had to begin going to the dialysis center three times a week. Then, in March, she woke up paralyzed. We eventually discovered a spinal infection which reduced Stephanie's mobility to the point that she must use a wheelchair. After several weeks of antibiotic infusions, the infection was gone, but left her essentially paralyzed from the waist down. Movement is coming back, but recovery is slow. She was in rehab from March until the end of October. and now we need a wheelchair van to get around. I've found a used wheelchair van locally that is very affordable, in good shape and just needs a couple of repairs.

As well, we are going through the process to get home health aides to assist while I am at work and sometimes even when I am at home. This process takes some time and in the "in-between," we need to pay for this assistance out-of-pocket.

Our things, including an adjustable bed, are still in North Carolina. Bringing them to Ithaca would really help Stephanie to feel at home. Moving our bed here will allow her to move out of the hospital bed, and allow us to sleep in the same room again.
