Our second son, Levi, was born on May 16th, 2023 via a very unexpected emergency C-section. Immediately after he was born, Levi required a month-long NICU stay. Due to his traumatic birth, he has many ongoing medical needs, multiple diagnoses and significant developmental delays, and has required several other hospitalizations throughout his life.

Given the severity of the situation, my wife had to step away from her corporate job. She is now the primary caregiver to our son Levi as well as an amazing mother to our toddler, Rhett. I would love Shanna to be selected for this award so she can go on a little pampering day and get out of the house and have some time to herself. She is constantly on the move with Levi. From therapies to the never ending doctor's appointments, it just doesn’t stop. And she keeps on going, always. 

Secondly, Levi requires a lot of care outside of the normal scope of what insurance helps with. We have paid the cost for intensive therapies for this year, but all of this is out-of-pocket and adds up very quickly. Levi's intensive therapy sessions range from 1 week to 3+ weeks at a time. These therapies are also typically out of town, so on top of the out-of-pocket expenses for the therapies, there are travel and living expenses while he is out of town as well.
