In Support of Scholarship for Joseph Galloway

Scholarship for Joseph Galloway
Hello Village! (keep scrolling to see a note from Joseph)

Joseph is preparing to go to college and we couldn't be more proud of him. He's been accepted to Lane College, an HBCU in Tennessee, and will start this fall in the Pre-Nursing program. He's worked really hard to earn his spot and is taking a big step towards building his future.

Joseph has applied for many, many scholarships but they just haven't been coming through. He still needs help. We are helping Joseph to build his own scholarship! Won't you help us build a scholarship for Joseph? Tuition and Fees are approximately $15,000 for the year, housing is $5240, meal plan $3240 and he will need to travel back and forth to and from school on breaks (see Lend a Hand--->).

We invite you to be part of Joe's incredible journey by supporting his college dreams. School starts at the beginning of August, so the sooner you can add to his scholarship fund the better.

Below are a few ways you can help build Joseph's Scholarship:
  1. Choose from Support Registry options to contribute to Joseph's Scholarship or to send him gift cards
  2. If you prefer, payments can be made directly to his account at Lane College by calling Blaize Johnson, Accounts Payable 731-426-7550, Tell him you want to make a payment to Joseph Galloway's account.
  3. 'Share' to Spread the Word to family and friends
  4. 'Follow' Updates to stay informed

My name is Joseph Galloway. I am an incoming freshman at Lane College, an HBCU in Jackson, Tennessee. My goal is to become a registered nurse because I want a career centered on helping others during some of the most important moments of their lives. Nursing combines knowledge, compassion, and service in a way that allows people to make a lasting difference every day. As I begin my college journey at Lane College, I am excited to pursue a nursing degree while continuing to grow as a student, an athlete, and a future healthcare professional.

Throughout my life, I have learned that success is not determined by talent alone. It comes from discipline, perseverance, and the willingness to keep working when challenges arise. Playing baseball has helped shape these qualities in me. The game has taught me the value of preparation, teamwork, accountability, and resilience. Every practice and every game has reminded me that improvement comes through consistent effort and a commitment to learning. These lessons will continue to guide me as I pursue a career in nursing, where patients depend on professionals who can remain focused, work well with others, and respond with confidence under pressure.

Choosing Lane College is an important step toward achieving my goals. I wanted to attend an institution that values academic excellence, leadership, and service while providing the supportive environment of a Historically Black College and University. I believe Lane College will challenge me to become a stronger student while preparing me to serve diverse communities with skill and compassion.

Although my academic journey has not been perfect, it has taught me the importance of persistence and personal growth. My high school GPA does not fully represent my determination or my potential. I view college as an opportunity to build stronger study habits, improve my academic performance, and demonstrate the level of commitment I know I am capable of achieving. I am determined to earn excellent grades, successfully complete the nursing program, and prepare for a career where I can positively impact the lives of others.

Receiving this scholarship would significantly reduce the financial burden of earning my degree. It would allow me to devote more time to my studies, clinical experiences, and campus involvement while reducing the stress of paying for college. More importantly, it would represent an investment in my future and encourage me to continue working toward my goals with dedication and integrity.

I hope to use my education not only to build a successful career but also to serve communities that face barriers to quality healthcare. I want to be the kind of nurse who listens carefully, treats every patient with dignity and respect, and provides compassionate care regardless of a person's background or circumstances. I understand that becoming that kind of professional will require years of hard work, but I am ready for the challenge.

I am grateful for the opportunity to attend Lane College and pursue my dream of becoming a nurse. With determination, discipline, and the support of those who believe in my potential, I am committed to making the most of my education and using it to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Thank you so much for your support!
Joe
