UPDATE: We wanted to give a quick update and, most importantly, say thank you to everyone for everything! Mandy will be reaching out personally to everyone as she gets caught up.
Her appointment with the Sarcoidosis Clinic at Duke was overall positive. There is a clear treatment plan moving forward and Mandy felt it was the first time everything was being looked at as a whole and not just piece by piece.
She had a recent minor setback that had caused a flare-up and has started steroids again with the doctor increasing the chemo meds to get things under control. He explained this could be a 2 year regimen to get the granulomas to stop spreading and go dormant.
Mandy is optimistic to have the right care team, a solid plan, and energy to move forward. Thank you all again for being such a huge support system through this!
Hello family and friends,
Over the past year, our sister Mandy (Amanda) has been quietly carrying more than most people could see. What began as endless doctor appointments, hospital visits, tests, medications, and unanswered questions finally led to a diagnosis of Sarcoidosis, a rare inflammatory disease affecting her lungs, lymph nodes, and heart.
Mandy is strong, stubborn, loving, funny, and deeply loved in return. But even the strongest people get tired. This journey has taken a tremendous physical, emotional, and financial toll on her and her family as they continue navigating treatments, testing, and the uncertainty that comes with chronic illness.
If you know Mandy, you know she is the kind of person who shows up for others without hesitation. Right now, we’re hoping to surround her with that same kind of care and support.
