In Support of Racquel Toomer

I’m Racquel, and I’m humbly asking for help as I recover from a medical emergency that turned my life upside down without warning. I’m a nurse practitioner, and I’m used to being on the other side of care, helping others heal and get well. But after unknowingly ingesting an ingredient I’m severely allergic to, my body went into Stage 4 anaphylactic shock. It was a life-threatening reaction that caused me to lose consciousness and required immediate emergency medical treatment to keep me alive. During the medical crisis and recovery, I experienced total organ failure and nearly lost the use of both of my lower legs because of the lack of blood supply. That is what is reflected in the photos. I am now facing an unexpected recovery period involving my right leg, which is the leg I drive with, and this has brought both physical and financial challenges.

During this time, I’m doing everything I can to rest, recover, and get back on my feet, but the reality is that I’ve fallen behind on bills and need support. The funds raised will help me cover my kids’ basic day-to-day necessities and the bills I’ve fallen behind on while I recover. This experience has been overwhelming in ways I never could have prepared for, and asking for help is not easy for me. Still, I know I can’t do this alone.
