Hello family and friends! We're reaching out to let you know about the urgent situation happening in Poplar Grove. Recently, on August 16, 2026, our neighborhood was flooded when a major water line broke due to ongoing construction. Homes on Emery and 500 South and Gillespie were hit hard. Many of us have lost our yards, basements, and some even the main floors of our homes. Sadly, one family also lost their beloved pet.

As our community deals with these losses, the situation is still unfolding. We're experiencing frustration as we wait for home insurance assessments, with no clear answers on coverage. Each household is receiving a different story, from both the insurance companies and the city. The city remains vague, labeling the issue as “under investigation.” While they figure out the responsibilities, we’re left uncertain. What do we do while they deliberate? Our homes and lives hang in the balance.

We are currently displaced, finding shelter in whatever way we can, from trailers to cars. We need your help to get through this challenging time. Please consider supporting us in any way you can:

  1. Choose from Support Registry options to offer financial or gift card help.
  2. 'Share' to Spread the Word to family and friends.
  3. 'Follow' Updates to stay informed about our situation.
