Help Us Lay Papa Bill to Rest Beside His Beloved Wife
It is with a heavy heart that I am creating this support fundraising for my grandfather, Bill Burke—though to so many, he was simply known as Papa Bill . He has passed and we would like to purchase a burial plot where his ashes and my late grandmothers, can be put together and laid to rest.

Many of you know that Bill worked as the maintenance man for Mishawum for nearly 30 years. During that time, he helped countless Townie families, always lending a hand whenever someone needed it. Even after retirement, he never stopped looking out for his neighbors. If something needed fixing or someone needed help, Papa Bill was there.
He was the kind of person who never met a stranger. He loved striking up conversations with anyone he met and had a way of making people feel welcome. His kindness, generosity, and sense of humor touched so many lives.
Above all else, Papa Bill was devoted to his family. He raised six children—Billy, Colleen, Timmy, Suzie, Kellie, and Katie—and was the proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
After a long and difficult battle with dementia, my grandfather after spending his final days at home surrounded by family passed away.
While he does have a life insurance policy, it will cover only the funeral service and his cremation. Our hope is that, through this support now fundraising page, we will be able to purchase a burial plot at Holy Cross Cemetery where both his ashes and our grandmother Kathy's ashes can finally be laid to rest together.
After 57 years of marriage and 4 years since my grandmother passed and they last saw each other. There is nothing we want more than to reunite Papa Bill with the love of his life. Knowing they are together again would bring our family an immeasurable sense of peace.
Having a permanent resting place will also give our family, friends, neighbors, and anyone whose life Papa Bill touched a place to visit, remember him, and say hello to the Mishawum maintenance man who meant so much to so many. It will be a place where future generations can honor both Papa Bill and Kathy, knowing they are finally at peace together once again.
