Help Olivia Keep Moving Forward π
At just 20 weeks pregnant, Anna and Daniel learned that their daughter, Olivia, had been diagnosed with holoprosencephaly (HPE). Despite being encouraged by doctors to end the pregnancy, they chose to continue carrying Olivia, prayed over her, and trusted that her life had a purpose.
Today, Olivia is 2 years old and continues to amaze everyone around her. She works hard in OT, PT, and speech therapy, and her family is determined to give her every opportunity to reach her fullest potential.
Olivia does not walk independently yet, but she can stand. She doesn't speak in sentences, but she communicates through sounds, facial expressions, and the people who know her best. She also eats completely by mouth.
Her family has heard wonderful things about DMI (Dynamic Movement Intervention) therapy and wants to give Olivia the opportunity to see what this intensive therapy can help her accomplish. Their hope is that DMI can help her body relax, improve strength and movement, and build on the skills she is already working so hard to develop.
Each DMI session costs approximately $5,000, and Anna and Daniel are hoping to give Olivia 3β4 sessions over the next year, bringing the estimated therapy need to $15,000β$20,000.
These sessions are a significant financial commitment, but Olivia's family believes that every opportunity to help her grow, move, communicate, and become more independent is worth pursuing.
