In Support of The Seybold Family

The Seybold Family
My husband went to get groceries the other night. Afterwards, he was on his way to stop for gas. Then he was being woken up by a witness.

An 18 yr old and 2 of his buddies decided to drink before driving fast and recklessly that night.

Aden never saw the car coming towards him. They hit him head on, launching his head into the windshield and crumpling the front end of our car, sending it all the way into the perpendicular lanes. They then tried to drive away, but their vehicle stopped running a block away.

The situation sounds like it should be easy, the teens were arrested, there were witnesses to corroborate, we at least have insurance... when the other driver found out they were going to jail, they refused to give insurance information. We still don't have a crash report, but when we do, we'll have to pay to get it. We found out today that our coverage for "uninsured motor vehicle" was only for bodily injury, not property damage (which was stated nowhere in our policy or list of coverages). Now, we have to worry about the cost of the tow, it being stored at the tow yard, any fees that are building up due to it being there. I don't think we're even going to get the value of the car returned to us, because it sounds like Statefarm is only interested in finding their insurance to pay them for costs they didn't incur. On top of all of this, the doctor wouldn't do an xray or anything for the intense pain he's feeling from his neck and shoulder all the way down his arm to his thumb that had been numb this whole time. I never realized whiplash was treated with Tylenol and water. Nothing he's taken does anything for the pain, but the doctors out here all treat any pain complaints like a drug addict that's pillseeking.

My husband gets disability. I'm in the process of trying to find a job through Vocational Rehab. All of the money that I'd make to get is through the month was heavily dependant on having a vehicle. Lyft quickly gets expensive and we don't really have reliable or dependable friends out here. We can't get to the store (Walmart+ only helps so much), to appointments, to the urgent care across town for a doctor that will abridged do their job. We're at our wits end and have gone from already struggling to near panic over how we're going to make it. We just need a car as soon as possible. Not even new, just running and safe, something that'll last a while. Any kind of help is greatly appreciate.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read through all of this. Even if you can't help, if you could just let other people know that they might help. Even the tiniest amounts are a huge help with enough people. Again, thank you.
