Hi family and friends! We're reaching out to share some important news about Monica and to ask for your support.

On June 14 2024, 11 days after giving birth to Shevlin, Monica acquired a catastrophic brain injury due to cardiac arrest. Now, 9 months later, she's still recovering. Monica requires a 24/7 live in aide to care for her at home. The outpatient model of medicine and therapy has not been successful in rehabilitating her. Her care team believes that the Tree of Life, an inpatient neurorehabilitation center in Richmond, VA, is Monica's best chance to improve her mobility, independence, and quality of life. The program is completely out of pocket and not covered by insurance, which is why we're creating this support group.

This is her best chance to get well enough to return and stay home, and really for her to be safe no matter what the future holds. We're extremely grateful for the support we've received, and continue to receive, from family, friends, neighbors, people in the healthcare industry, and everyone else along the way.
