The McCoy Family consists of Paige and her husband, their 2 young kids, 2 dogs, and 2 bunnies. Late last week, they discovered their basement had an issue: mold.
After the recent storms, water began pooling in their basement, allowing toxic mold to spread throughout the walls, furniture, and other belongings. To remediate the mold and prevent it from returning, they must remove everything from the finished basement.
This finding was shocking due to this house being a new build just two short years earlier. This kind of clean-up is not only overwhelming—it’s expensive. As of today, 9/1/2026, they are looking at close to 50-70K in repairs and replacement of belongings. Insurance is being talked to but isn’t moving fast, and a lot of roadblocks are in the way.
