Meet Marco—a young man whose smile lights up every room and whose joy is contagious. He has been diagnosed with Down syndrome and autism, and one of the things that brings him the greatest happiness is riding a bike. Marco loves the feeling of moving, exploring, and being just like everyone else—but until now, riding has been unsafe because of challenges with control.
Recently, Marco had the chance to trial a special adaptive bike designed just for riders like him. For the first time, he was able to ride safely and with a sense of independence, without the risk of harming himself or those around him. The look on his face said it all—this was pure freedom. This bike would not only give Marco safe mobility but also improve his physical health, emotional wellness, and social connections.
Sadly, this bike is not covered by insurance—not even a little bit. The cost is $15,900, and while Sharon is working with an advocate to seek out grants, we hope to give Marco this life-changing gift by Thanksgiving. We know this isn’t just about a bike—it’s about independence, confidence, and joy.
Sharon will be posting updates about Marco’s journey right here, and we’d love for you to follow along, share his story, and support in any way you can. Thank you for helping us make this dream possible for Marco.
