Support Mara Through Her Ovarian Cancer Treatment
On behalf of Mara and her family, we're sharing what's ahead and how you can help.
Mara was recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer July 17, 2026. Surgery is scheduled for August 6th, followed by chemo, and what was first thought to be one tumor turned out to involve other areas too. She's now looking at about 6 months away from work, right as treatment costs begin.
The financial side of this is significant: the family is facing roughly $36,000 in lost wages and $6,000 to meet their insurance deductible, on top of everyday living costs. This need is starting now, with surgery days away. The family is looking at the details for the MN Paid Family Leave Act but she has only been with her new job for less than 9 months and there is a one year minimum to apply. As you can imagine their world has been rocked and her first priority is to get through surgery.
What matters most to Mara is that Lake and Dylan's lives stay as normal as possible, still doing the activities they love, while their world is turned upside down. Donations right now are what will get this family through the months ahead. As we know more after surgery, we'll share other ways to help.

There's also a Facebook Public page where Mara herself will be reading, so keep sharing your love and encouragement there. Support Now will focus on the practical side, donations now, and meal trains and tasks as they're needed and will be managed by Jason and organizers. We know everyone wants to help and we'll post meals or tasks that are needed at a later date!
