In Support of Manny Powell End of Life Care
Dear friends of Manny Powell,
Our very good boy turned 13 this Summer. That's a really long life for a big dog like him! I've worked very hard to make sure Manny's life is not only long, but good - filled with friends, lots of belly rubs, park trips, and adventures all over NYC. Sadly, all the fun has caught up and his body is slowing him down. Manny struggles daily with arthritic pain and it's becoming increasingly difficult for him to do all his favorite things (no more fetch!). As of now, Manny can limp about two blocks without a break. I have worked with his vet to find treatment that keeps him comfortable, but at this point we've tried all I can afford to do and it's just barely enough. He's clearly frustrated with his inability to do pretty much anything fun anymore (he's always been a sporty dog) and obviously hurting. I've wrestled with this for a while and have decided to let Manny go out on the highest note possible rather continue living in pain and losing ground on everything that makes life joyous for him.
I am preparing to say goodbye sometime this Winter, as I don't think he can manage the ice and snow this year. I would love some support in making the rest of his time here as fun and comfortable as possible, as well as prepare for the logistics. Im fundraising to help me pay for at-home euthanasia, cremation, increased pain medication, and other logistics. I know Manny has a pretty big fan club so I'm reaching out for any help folks can offer to send my best boy off right. I know times are increasingly difficult so whether you can donate, share this fundraiser, or dig up an old picture or two, I'll appreciate the love and support at such a difficult time.
