Help Give Lilah Safe, Accessible Transportation
At just 4 years old, Lilah is already teaching those around her what resilience looks like. She is the oldest of four children and has been diagnosed with Aicardi syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that primarily affects girls and impacts brain development. The condition can cause severe developmental delays, epilepsy, vision impairment, and significant physical disabilities, leaving many children, including Lilah, dependent on others for every aspect of daily life.
Lilah is medically complex and requires total care. As she continues to grow, one of the family's biggest challenges has become safely lifting her in and out of their vehicle. What was once manageable is now becoming physically impossible, making transportation to medical appointments, therapies, and everyday activities increasingly difficult.
The solution is a wheelchair accessible van, allowing Lilah to safely remain in her wheelchair during transportation while giving her parents a way to transport her without the constant heavy lifting. Unfortunately, wheelchair accessible vehicles typically cost between $70,000 and $90,000 and are not covered by insurance, placing them well beyond what most families can afford.
Today, we have the opportunity to come together and lighten that burden.
