Help support my Cranes of Hope

----

What am I doing?

My project is to help women who have been victims of assault.

I am raising money by making origami Paper Cranes. People can sponsor me ($1 per crane) to make cranes. Once I reach 1,000 cranes, I plan on donating that money to women who are victims of domestic violence in Los Angeles.

Please donate as little or as much as you can, to help me reach my goal

What is the symbol of the paper crane?

The paper crane represents hope, prosperity and health.

According to Japanese folklore, making 1,000 cranes grants one wish for healing that will come true. The Japanese legend says that cranes live for a 1,000 years, and that by making 1,000 cranes you will a have life of health.

How does this connect to my Torah/Bible portion?

My portion is the story Vayishlach (Genesis 32:4–36:43)

I have been studying the story of Dinah. In my portion, Dinah is assaulted. However, she never speaks. By my Mitzvah project, I feel that I am giving Dinah, as well as other women today, hope and a voice.

Organized by Traci Krepper.
