In Support of Lee Edelman

Lee Edelman
My name is Lee Edelman. I am a disabled tenant living with Complex PTSD, Neurodivergence, Major Depressive Disorder, & others.
For 6 years, I have been dedicated resident and member of my community at The Station at Willow Grove Apartments, paying over $148,000 in on-time rent.

The crisis began when my disability caused a severe nervous system collapse, leading to a temporary interruption in my electric service. To protect my health, I obtained a formal medical certification from my doctor and submitted multiple requests for a reasonable accommodation to property management.

Instead of accommodating my disability as required by law, management retaliated against me and moved to evict, resulting in direct violations of the Fair Housing Act (FHA):

Disregarding Federal Protections: During legal proceedings, the housing provider tried to prioritize lease terms over protected medical accommodations, arguing that utility terms outweighed my federal civil rights as a disabled tenant.

Retaliatory Lease Denial: Despite receiving an official digital offer to renew my lease—which I accepted—systemic portal errors prevented the final signature page from generating, creating a technical barrier that was weaponized to force an eviction. Regardless of their intentional lawlessness, I have physical proof of this 6-month lease.

Administrative Failures: A clerical overreach at the Montgomery County Courthouse during a motion being e-filed was “rejected” for unlawful reasons (a drop down menu error), which suddenly created a legal, housing, and mental health crisis; me and my two 12-year-old senior emotional support animals (an ESA dog and cat) and me facing immediate homelessness.

Corporate management assumed I would simply accept the loss and fade away quietly. They completely underestimated my determination to protect my civil and constitutional rights and my animals.
Without compromising confidential trial evidence, I have taken actions to bring this story to the public and pursuing full regulatory accountability.
