It’s been nearly five years since I lost my dear husband and the best daddy to our three children-he was only 34. In these years I’ve met so many widows who, like myself, struggle alone with so many things, from financial hardships to at-home tasks-but we can change that-together.

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” James 1:27

This has been on my heart for years but I have not started this, for the same reason I have struggled day in and day out since I became a widow-I was afraid to ask for help. And when I did, sometimes it didn’t come, so I stopped asking. But now I’m going to ask, and I promise the widowed community that for them I will keep asking. I need your help. Widows are suffering every day because there is not help available. Bereavement leave from work is on average three days. Benefits aren’t available to any widow or widower until they turn 60 years old. Every widow I have met, and it’s many and this tragic list grows daily, is struggling with something. Missed rent and mortgage payments, inability to afford mental health services, lack of strength, means or ability to perform household duties. I met an older widow recently who had to hire someone online to change out lightbulbs because she was too frail to climb a ladder, and had no one to help her. I just have to do something. But I can’t do it alone.

This small goal of $5,000 will allow me to pay the fees needed to file and start a nonprofit, 501c3 organization to support the widowed community with individualized care for each and every one who contacts us. With your support alongside me, we can create a lifeline of love and hope in this dark time in these precious people’s lives. This is a test. If you are seeing this-will you commit to this cause, and take this journey with me? If we can reach this first goal, I will know I have teammates in this vision. I will start this and I will run with it as hard as I can-and I can run. If you know me, you know I have no quit in me. If you don’t, I hope you will follow us on social and get to know my family and me as we do this together.

The NEVER ALONE Foundation-coming soon! I believe in you, I’m hoping in you, and I appreciate you.
