Meet Lainey 🤎
Lainey is a joyful little girl who will be turning three this May. Each day, she continues to show just how strong and determined she is. She is one of four siblings and is deeply loved by her parents, Walter and Chantelle, and her entire family.
Lainey was born with a rare disorder that affects her development, vision, and mobility. Despite these challenges, Lainey brings so much joy to those around her.
She has been working incredibly hard in therapy sessions to build strength and develop new skills. Her parents are committed to giving her every opportunity to grow, move, and reach her fullest potential.
The Trexo Device
Recently, Lainey had the incredible opportunity to trial the Trexo robotic walking device (“robot legs”) in Calgary. Trexo is a wearable robotic gait trainer designed to help children with mobility challenges practice supported walking.
By guiding each step, Trexo allows children like Lainey to safely experience walking as their body and brain learn together. It was both incredible and emotional to see Lainey take her very first steps.
Consistent walking practice can support important health and developmental benefits, including:

• Better joint health and bone density
• Increased circulation and digestion
• Stronger core stability and posture
• Greater opportunities for independence and exploration

For many children, the ability to take thousands of supported steps can make a meaningful difference in their physical development and overall health.
Why We Need Your Help
The cost of the Trexo system is approximately $40,000 CAD (~$29,150 USD)*, including the supportive walker frame. Unfortunately, it is not covered by healthcare or insurance.
Lainey is still very small, and this device would grow with her for many years. We hope and pray that with support, this is something we can make possible for her.
Alongside this fundraising effort, we will also be applying for grants to help offset the cost. Any approved funding will go directly toward the total cost, reducing how much we need to raise here.
