Over the past few months, my life changed unexpectedly. I became seriously ill, was hospitalized for nearly a month, spent time in a rehabilitation hospital, and am now navigating life with a disability at 23 years old while working to regain my independence. I’ve had to relearn things many people take for granted — how to walk, think, eat, speak, and function independently again. Things that once felt simple and automatic have become skills I’ve had to consciously work toward through rehabilitation and therapy. 

Because of my illness and the impact it has had on my ability to work, I’ve been unemployed since June while focusing on my recovery. Unfortunately, my bills haven’t stopped, and I’ve fallen behind on rent and other essential expenses. I’ve also accumulated nearly $10,000 in credit card debt while trying to keep up with my financial responsibilities. I’m actively seeking assistance, applying for benefits, and doing everything I can to get back on my feet and eventually return to work when I’m able. Right now, though, I’m facing significant financial hardship with very little support to rely on.

This fundraiser will help me through this difficult transition and provide support for basic necessities and overdue expenses, including housing, utilities, transportation, food, medical-related expenses, and other essential bills. As difficult as it is for me to ask for help, any amount truly makes a difference.
