Update: The journey continues....

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who has already opened your hearts and wallets to help Karen and her dad during this incredibly difficult time. Your generosity, kind words, and prayers have meant more than you know.

Dad is being discharged from rehab and will be returning home. While that may sound like good news, the reality is that he is still far too weak and needs much more care than he can manage on his own. Unfortunately, insurance has decided it's time for him to leave rehab, even though his recovery is far from complete.

There is still so much that needs to be done to make his home safe and livable before he returns. Repairs like the broken air conditioner, plumbing leak, and other essential home needs remain, and Karen continues to do everything she can while also facing weeks of lost income and caring for her disabled nephew.

If you've already donated, thank you for making a difference. If you're able to share this fundraiser or contribute, every act of kindness helps ease the burden and brings them one step closer to creating a safe home for Dad as he continues his recovery.

Thank you for standing with Karen and her family.

Help Karen Care for Her Dad During an Unimaginable Time

If you know Karen, you know she is the first person to show up when someone needs help. Today, she is the one who could use a helping hand.

Several weeks ago, Karen flew from Florida to California after her 87-year-old father was hospitalized. He has been in the hospital for weeks and was just transferred to a rehabilitation facility. As his only support during this difficult time, Karen has put her own life and job on hold to be by his side.

Because she has been away from work for over three weeks, Karen has lost significant income. At the same time, she's facing the overwhelming responsibility of getting her father's home into safe, livable condition before he can return.

His home has several urgent repairs that can't wait:

  • The air conditioner has stopped working.

  • There is a plumbing leak that needs immediate attention.

  • The garbage disposal needs to be replaced.

  • The carpeting has deteriorated and should eventually be removed and replaced, though that is a much larger expense.

  • Car repairs

Karen's father lives on a fixed income and is now unable to manage these repairs himself. On top of everything else, Karen is also caring for her disabled nephew, whose daily needs continue while she is balancing her father's medical care.

This has been an emotional, exhausting, and financially overwhelming time for them. Any donation—no matter the size—will go directly toward essential home repairs, helping cover Karen's lost wages, and easing the burden so she can focus on what matters most: caring for her father during his recovery.

If you're unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser with your friends and family would mean the world to us.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and prayers. Every act of support reminds Karen and her family that they are not facing this journey alone.
