If you knew Ryan personally, you should consider yourself amongst the luckiest people in the world. There is no one on this earth like him.
He was a brilliant Doctor, a loving husband, and one of the kindest souls I have ever known. But before he could begin the life we dreamed of together, he spent years carrying burdens that no one should ever have to bear.
Ryan was born in Saudi Arabia, where being gay can carry devastating legal and social consequences. After completing his residency and graduating, he made the extraordinary decision to choose love, freedom, and the chance to live authentically instead of returning home. He knew what that decision would cost him.
He lost access to everything he had built there. He endured harassment, pressure, attempts at coercion, and threats directed at both him and me. Despite every obstacle, we refused to give up on our future. We got married, fought through the immigration process, and we won. Ryan became a lawful permanent resident of the United States—a milestone that represented hope, safety, and the promise of finally being able to live without fear.
Then everything changed.
Not long before Ryan died, he learned that his father had brutally beaten his mother after discovering she had concealed the fact that she knew Ryan was gay. She was so badly injured that she had to be airlifted to a hospital. The news shattered Ryan. The emotional trauma was overwhelming, and he sought psychiatric help because he wanted to survive it.
He reached out for help.
Because of ongoing legal proceedings, I cannot share every detail of what happened next. What I can say is that I believe Ryan deserved better. He deserved to be heard. He deserved compassion. He deserved competent care. Most of all, he deserved the chance to come home.
Instead, I lost my husband.
No spouse should have to ask whether more could have been done. No family should be left wondering whether warning signs were missed or whether opportunities to help were overlooked. I refuse to let Ryan’s story end in silence.
I am raising funds to hire experienced attorneys to uncover the truth, preserve evidence, and hold every person or institution accountable if the facts show they failed in their responsibilities. This fight is about Ryan, but it is also about protecting others who may one day find themselves in the same vulnerable position.
Justice is expensive. The legal system is complex, and taking on powerful institutions requires resources that I simply do not have alone. Every donation will go directly toward attorney fees and the legal work necessary to seek answers and accountability.
If you cannot donate, please consider sharing Ryan’s story. Every share helps keep his memory alive and brings us one step closer to the truth.
Ryan crossed an ocean to build a life where he could be free, loved, and safe. He deserved to grow old. He deserved the future we planned together. I can’t give him that future, but I can fight for the justice he deserves.
Thank you for standing with Ryan and with me.
