In Support of James Humphries

Hello all-

We are creating this page on behalf of the Humphries family- Skye, Jeremy, James (age 2), and Grace (age 1 month)-  as they navigate immense change following James’s diagnosis of Late Infantile Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD). With this diagnosis their family will undergo countless appointments and will travel near and far to explore treatment options for James.

The funds raised through this page will go towards treatment costs, covering any travel necessities, food and meals for the family,  experiences and trips for the family as they make as many memories as they can, and any unforeseen costs that may come up. Every dollar will help the Humphries family as they fight for their baby boy. Regardless of donations, more than anything the family requests prayers as James needs them more than ever.

At this time, Skye and the family request giftcards until they determine treatment plans and options. On this platform, giftcard donations are made and Skye and Jeremy can decide which giftcard they’d like the funds to go to based on their needs.

Below, we share Skye’s update and prayer requests for James and their family:

“Nothing could ever prepare you for receiving a phone call telling you that your child has a rare genetic disorder called Late Infantile Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD). MLD destroys the protective myelin sheath surrounding nerve cells in the brain and nervous system causing a progressive decline in mental and motor functions. Our family and our boy need your prayers now more than ever.

Biggest ways we need help at the moment:

1. Pray BIG and pray LOUD. Pray for strength and healing for our sweet boy, our God is so big and so good.
2. Pray for our sweet girl, Grace, as we wait for the test results to see if she has this disorder. She has a 25% chance of being affected. 
3. Rehoming our 2 Golden-Doodles. Now more than ever they need a home that can take better care of them, and we also need to be able to travel for treatment if/when James gets in. If you or someone you know is interested, please reach out. We are open to separating them now, especially with this being time sensitive. 
4. If you or someone you know has been affected by MLS, we would love to get into contact with them.

It takes a village and right now that's what our sweet boy needs. Next steps are trying to get into trials, any sort of gene therapies, and honestly anything we can find that will slow this down or stop it from progressing. We also are wanting to experience as many things possible with our boy, play dates, etc.

God, we pray for your healing touch to descend upon James. Bring strength to his body, peace to his spirit, and restoration to his health. We pray that you would work a miracle in his life and make his story a testimony to others. Bring peace to our boy and our family in this difficult time, and help us cling to your promises. God is good. AMEN.
