Support Ja’kayline as She Waits for a New Heart
Ja’kayline—lovingly known as Jak—is a joyful, kind-hearted, and outgoing 11-year-old who has always lit up the room with her smile. Recently, a virus took an unexpected and devastating turn. What seemed like a typical illness revealed something much more serious: Cardiomyopathy, a life-threatening condition where the heart struggles to pump effectively.
Now, Jak is in Shands Children’s Hospital, where she will remain until she receives a heart transplant. Her family is reeling from this sudden shift, doing everything they can to stay strong for Jak as they wait and hope for a miracle.
Her mom, MyChela, will be sharing updates through this page. In the days and weeks ahead, you’ll find opportunities to help under the “Lend a Hand” section—whether it's providing meals, gift cards, travel support, or other urgent needs that may arise.
