UPDATE: After returning to work from my medical leave, I took a turn for the worse and I have been in the hospital for a week with a lymphatic infection. I go to court in two days for my eviction, and I don't know what I'm going to do.
Hello family and friends,
My children and I are on the verge of losing our home. Despite my best efforts to get funding, we haven't been able to secure the amount needed to stay. Since losing my two-decade career in corporate America & the COVID lockdowns, I’ve been struggling financially. I now work full-time at Home Depot but my earnings are just a quarter of what they used to be. I'm also dealing with multiple types of arthritis and autoimmune issues which makes being 50 at the Home Depot a challenge. Two months ago, I had to go on disability because of injuries from my job. To top it all off, A year ago I allowed my ex-boyfriend, my then boyfriend, move in, and he ended up not paying eight months of rent, making things worse. He turned our world upside down and it caused us to get so far behind and rent. I was living a domestic violence nightmare with this man until he finally went to jail and I was able to get him out. My father’s recent passing has left us even more alone and vulnerable. He was my rock. He would always help us financially when we needed his assistance. But now he's gone and I don't have anyone I can turn to for help.
We need to raise $25,000 as soon as possible to avoid losing the home we've lived in for the past five years. I want to keep my son in a stable environment where he's been thriving with his school friends since Pre-K. If we can save our home, I plan to get a roommate to help with expenses. However, without your support, we risk losing everything, including our personal belongings. I am continuously applying for jobs in my field, but at 50 years old, it's hard to get noticed in Corporate America. This situation has left me feeling lost and scared. I am humiliated to ask for help, but I have nowhere else to turn. If you're able to help, I will trade work or art that I have painted, that have been in galleries, for your support. Any amount will make a difference. Thank you for reading our story.
