Help Me Be There for David’s Surgery
On September 2, my 22-year-old son, David, moved into residential care in Casper, Wyoming. Just four days later, he suffered a devastating injury.
David is completely blind, nonverbal, autistic, and profoundly disabled after surviving shaken baby syndrome at just four months old. After 22 years as his primary caregiver, transitioning him into residential care was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made.
I was initially told David had broken his arm. I later learned his injuries were far more extensive, including a shattered and dislocated elbow with significant ligament and tendon damage.
David is now scheduled for major orthopedic surgery on October 1, expected to last four to six hours.
I recently relocated to Utah for a job transfer, right around the time David entered residential care. Between moving expenses, missed work, and unexpected trips back to Wyoming, I am struggling financially to return for his surgery.
I’m asking for help with gas, lodging, travel expenses, and lost wages so I can be by his side throughout his surgery and recovery.
I’m also working to obtain answers about his injury and ensure he receives the care and protection he deserves.
David cannot see, speak for himself, or tell someone when he’s hurting. He depends on others to protect him, and I have spent his entire life making sure his voice is heard.
Right now, I just need to get back to my son.
Every donation, no matter how small, brings me closer to being there when he needs me most. If you cannot contribute, sharing our story would mean just as much.
Thank you for helping me be there for my boy.
With love and gratitude, Crystal
