In Support of Harvey A. Salmons | He HAS Miracles
Harvey is 2 years old. At birth, he was diagnosed with severe HIE (hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy) as a result of his mother's uterus rupturing, experiencing medical neglect, and Harvey being without oxygen for a prolonged period of time. Harvey was born without a heartbeat and not breathing. After birth, it took seven minutes for the medical team to resuscitate him. Harvey wasn't expected to live beyond a couple of hours but since the very beginning, he's defied the odds. HIE is a brain injury which has resulted in life long challenges for Harvey and numerous additional diagnoses such as cerebral palsy, epilepsy, feeding tube dependency and more.
If you meet Harvey, you’ll see so much more than his diagnoses. He is a happy, determined little boy who loves being with his family, going outside, listening to music, and especially getting tickles! He loves spending time with his siblings, including his 3-year-old brother, Jack, and his 5-month-old twin siblings, Sterling and Mary Jean. His family is at the center of his world, and there is nothing they love more than watching Harvey grow and show them what he is capable of.
Michele and Jake recently attended the Hope for Minds Conference, one of the largest conferences focused on brain injury awareness, where families and professionals come together to learn about emerging technology, medical advancements, and treatments and therapies for children with brain injuries. Their hope is to move forward with treatment options that may help Harvey continue making progress cognitively, physically, and functionally, including seeing Dr. Proefrock in Phoenix, Arizona, for stem cell therapy and Dr. Harch in New Orleans, Louisiana for hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Stem cell treatments start around $8,000 before travel, with recommendations for treatments every six months during the first several years. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy with Dr. Harch involves a two-month treatment in New Orleans, Louisiana starting around $14,500, followed by the need for an at-home chamber costing approximately $15,000. These treatments and therapies, and the travel to obtain them, quickly add up, and they are not covered by insurance.
From Michele and Jake - We humbly thank each and every one of you for caring for Harvey and supporting our family. We have seen God work millions of miracles in Harvey's life and with your help, we look forward to witnessing millions more. Even above any donation, we ask that you PRAY WITH US FOR FULL EARTHLY HEALING FOR HARVEY. Thank you & God bless!
