In Support of Gumby

We’re raising $10,000 to help us responsibly adopt Gumby, a special-needs puppy born with CBEL (congenital bilateral elbow luxation) just like Tonk, Summer, and Macy. Gumby is almost 15 weeks old, and his current guardian shared that she can move his legs at the elbow, but it’s getting harder as he grows, which is why timing matters. If we adopt him, we’re hoping to get him in with the orthopedic specialist at Cornell ASAP, because in my experience once a puppy is around five months old they’re often no longer a good candidate for corrective surgery. This fundraiser is for Gumby’s foundational care in his first year (and likely beyond): specialist evaluations, imaging (X-rays and possibly MRI), assistive devices and mobility support, rehab/therapy planning and early intervention support, possible stem cell harvesting (if appropriate), and an appropriate hormone-sparing sterilization procedure when the time comes (because sex hormones support joints and connective tissue, and for dogs born with orthopedic/skeletal challenges that matters). Important: this $10,000 goal does NOT include the cost of surgery if he is a candidate; surgery would be a separate, additional expense. If we do not meet the goal and are unable to move forward with adopting Gumby, any proceeds raised will go directly toward ongoing medical care and support for the Busted Bully Crew. We are not a rescue and not a 501(c)(3), so donations are not tax-deductible. If you’ve ever loved a dog the world didn’t make space for, this is one of those moments.
