In Support of Gia and her family!

Gia is a ray of sunshine and could really use love & support during this difficult time! She has Down Syndrome and is currently battling cancer, Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia since diagnosed 2/28/23.

One of the greatest challenges she is facing currently is the fact that her local hospital has her on a pediatric chemotherapy regimen. When she is hospitalized for different arms of the treatment she is on an adult floor because of her age. They have not taking into account the fact that she has Down sydrome and that she should be recieving the bedside manner a pediatric cancer patient should receive. She has developed anxiety and PTSD pretty much because of this.

For example, she had a major issue with her treatment port last week and it wasn't handled in a way that was sensitive to her special needs. Due to all of this, her Mom (and biggest advocate) has her set up to meet with one of the best hospitals in the U.S. in the beginning of February, but unfortunately, it's HOURS away from their home. That brings a whole new round of challenges, both logistically and financially.

Thankfully, Gia has a loving Mom, Dad and two brothers. But as with any family battling cancer, they are all spread too thin. Not enough hours in the day to 1. Treat/save Gia by being her advocate. 2. Meet the financial needs of the family. 3. Meet the EMOTIONAL needs of everyone in the family. Siblings of cancer patients need love & support and can often times feel left behind, which is never the intention of the parents of course.

A few HOPES I have for Gia & her parents:

  1. Funds to relieve any financial pressure so they can focus on the most important thing - saving Gia's life.
  2. Sharing this campaign with anyone who loves and knows Gia's family! That way they can find a NEED and fill it easily!
  3. Gia is quite possibly the biggest Elvis fan on earth! When she finishes up this round of treatment (and is cleared to travel) we would like to get her down to Tennessee to visit Graceland AND meet her new (long distance) friend Gibby, a dear friend of mine with Down syndrome. However, we don't want the funds for the family to go to that, so we are hoping our local Atlanta airline, Delta, will support them with airline tickets for the entire family!
