For years, Rich Freeland has been fighting an invisible battle.

Nearly 27 years ago, Rich played football and sustained multiple concussions. At the time, those injuries went undiagnosed, as so many did. Life continued on, but the effects of those head injuries stayed hidden beneath the surface.

Over the years, Rich lived with symptoms that didn’t yet have a name: brain fog, chronic fatigue, involuntary muscle contractions, chronic pain, tinnitus, mood changes, difficulty concentrating, sensory overload, and an ongoing sense that something wasn’t right. These symptoms continued to intensify over time. As the condition progressed, the impact reached a point where Rich could no longer work to support his growing family. He experienced episodes that were physically incapacitating, including periods when he was unable to walk and required hospitalization-- at its worst, nearly claiming his life.

Research has revealed something astounding for so many who have suffered a traumatic brain injury: TBIs can happen quietly, and symptoms can surface years—even decades—later. That is exactly what happened to Rich.

In 2023, everything shifted.

After decades of unanswered questions, Rich finally received clarity—a diagnosis of post-concussion syndrome connected to long-term, undiagnosed TBIs.
Today, Rich is actively pursuing therapies focused on brain and nervous system recovery: functional neurology, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and other neurological and regenerative treatments designed to support healing and improve quality of life.

These treatments bring real hope, but they also come with real challenges. They are costly, ongoing, and not covered by insurance.

Still, finally having answers has been life-altering for Rich and the Freeland family. There is now a path forward—one filled with determination, faith, and the belief that healing is possible, even after decades.

To continue treatment, the Freeland family is seeking to raise $25,000.

Please take a moment to follow Rich’s story, pray for strength and healing, and support the Freeland family in any way you feel led.

Your prayers, encouragement, and support truly matter.
