Dear friends, family, and community,
If you know Ellie, you know she has the fierce, resilient heart of a New Yorker. She is incredibly proud of the life she has built here in Encinitas as a self-employed single mother. She is independent, driven, and used to handling whatever life throws her way. But right now, Ellie is facing her biggest battle yet: colon cancer.
In a heartbreaking twist of timing, a major milestone for their family has turned into a double-edged sword. Tuesday, August 11th, was a day of two very different beginnings: Ashton’s first day of the school year (he’s now 9!), and Ellie’s very first day of cancer treatment.
As a self-employed mom, Ellie doesn't have the luxury of paid sick leave or corporate safety nets. While she is determined to get through this, the reality of balancing aggressive cancer treatments while maintaining financial stability for herself and Ashton is overwhelming. With her community rallying around her, she can dedicate herself to healing, without the overwhelming stress of daily life and the demands of running her business.
How We Can Help
-
Financial Donations: The absolute best way to support Ellie and Ashton right now is through monetary donations. This flexibility allows Ellie to cover the daily essentials for Ashton while her working hours are affected by treatment.
-
Meals (With a Caveat): While the occasional meal is deeply appreciated, colon cancer treatment makes dietary needs highly unpredictable. Gift cards to local grocery stores (like Trader Joe's, Sprouts, or Whole Foods) or food delivery services (DoorDash/UberEats) are incredibly helpful, allowing her to choose exactly what her body can handle on any given day.
-
Share This Page: Even if you cannot donate, please share this link with your networks.
Let’s surround this incredible mother and her son with the love, security, and stability they deserve.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity, prayers, and good vibes.
We love you, Ellie and Ashton!
