Donna P

Hello, my name is Donna, I'm 76, partially disabled and I currently live in Ohio. I'm originally from Michigan.

After 26 years of living in my home, it was just  sold in a Sheriff's sale on September 28. For the past twenty years since I was forced out of my job and couldn't go back to work again it became harder and harder to keep up with increasing house payments after the change in my employment in 2007.

With the sale comes my need to pack,  move and vacate this property as soon as I can which I'm ill prepared for financially. Financial responsibilities here along with my paying a  large amount towards delinquent taxes for the house in Michigan each month so I wouldn't loose it just haven't allowed much left for saving.

I had hoped to have at least started by now so I'm not down to the wire when they give me the exact date they set.  My goal is to be fully vacated by then but the funds to cover the expenses to move I have to keep working towards.

I have been selling personal possessions of any value which I must work on again today.

I am preparing to file for a 30 day extension to give me more time to move with the Court. I can only hope it will be granted.

I'm here reaching out for help because I need help covering the costs for things like packers, loaders, people to help remove bagged trash from the house for trash day due to my having to walk with a cane and having a hard time doing it. Funds to cover the cost of truck or pod rental if I'm unable to find a low cost full mover which I've been looking into.

Out of necessity I did manage to get eight bags of trash out for the trash yesterday so I am trying.

If I can't make this move, I'm afraid of ending  up facing homelessness which when I think of it possibly even happening I get frightened and overwhelmed.  So I'm trying to keep pushing forward in spite of not knowing what's going to happen.

My parents have passed, I've no family members that are able to help financially  and since I fell years ago and became pretty much homebound with low finances and not getting out to visit and attend functions like I had before, friends just fell by the wayside.

Being in this situation is also complicated by my having been treated for many years for Complex PTSD due to domestic violence I lived with years ago.

By the time I got out of where I worked here it was starting to get so violent with my manager being in a rage every day storming around our offices disrupting everything. Hating me for having divulged her name with regard to violations I found and also in wanting to discuss her conduct.

Finding my car smashed in the employee parking lot, having my manager get in my face threatening that I better just keep my mouth shut was in the least shocking for workplace conduct let alone doing it to someone you've been told has CPTSD. It continues to present problems which I wish I didn't have on top of what needs to be done now but I'm working with it.

Neither the house I've just lost here in Ohio or the house my parents left me in Michigan are in impeccable shape with both having issues and repairs needed. But I can work better with taking care of what's needed for the house in Michigan.

I've lost the house here so continuing to live here isnt even an option anymore. If I don't get myself and my belongings moved fast enough I could end up loosing everything and have to find a motel room that allows dogs to stay at on a monthly basis.  I can only pray it doesn't come to that.

That's why I simply have to ask if anyone here can help me put together what's needed for this move through any donations anyone might be able to make no matter how small it big.

The house in Michigan offers me a safe place to be again and it's totally paid for.  It offers me a one level home where I can get around easily and if I need to use something more eventually like an electric scooter I would be able to use it indoors and out since it's an open floor plan.

It offers me a house with a furnace that will heat the whole house instead of what its been like here for years. No furnace and heating with electric heaters which never generate enough heat to really keep the house warm especially here in the Midwest with our winters. Using an incredible amount of energy creating a huge electric bill every year.

The house in Michigan has a new furnace and water heater with the electrical having been upgraded in 2021. It does need a new roof which I can work on getting the repairs done to once I'm no longer making a house payment here.

The house I'm in here has stairs everywhere so there's parts of the house I can't visit often or use anymore. All the bedrooms are up so I sleep downstairs.  There's 14 steps up and 14 down.

The issues with my physical condition prevent me from doing a lot of the things needed to do when you move. Damaged unpredictable  knees have forced me into walking with a cane for years now making it impossible to carry boxes unless small

A walker would be better but this house is layed out in a manner that's quite congestive and the stairs are not wide enough to allow for one. I also have limited mobility in my left arm which usually causes a lot of pain.

My back was injured in the fall and I had a sprained neck so I can only work limited periods of time standing and then have to sit to rest. There's a lot I can do with packing sitting though.

After all this I'm forced into coming here to ask that anyone who might be able to help me accomplish this move donate even in the smallest of amounts. It does add up.

I have a car that if i can't get fixed here before moving so it's drivable to a Michigan, I'd like to have it towed so it can be worked on once I'm there. The cost for the towing I can cover . The tires need to be replaced since they've been flat for a long time and that presents more financial issues at the moment.

Last spring I started to re-sort everything in case it came to loosing the house like this and I unfortunately had a heart attack. I had to have a triple bypass so was hospitalized for a week and then at home had to follow the strict limitations set.

I hope I'm not sounding like a lost cause due to  the medical issues I have and the limitations due to my old injuries. I don't know how much longer the plan is for me to live but I would truly like however long it is to be under better circumstances than they have been here.

Again if you can help and I'm someone you'd consider helping please do so. Any amount will be seriously appreciated. I'm sorry to even have to be here asking but I'm grateful that something like Go Gund Me exists so there's at least a chance for help.

You may choose to help elsewhere, I understand.  If you can't help and could send prayers my way they're always welcome.  Thank you for your time and consideration.

Blessings,
Donna
