Welcome to our Support Registry for Chynna Miller. She is a young artist, whose future is now being threatened by severe diabetic retinopathy.

Diabetic retinopathy is a serious complication of diabetes that damages the blood vessels in the retina, often progressing silently before symptoms become severe. While it can often be treated successfully when caught early, Chynna’s condition advanced rapidly before it was fully diagnosed. For someone whose passions and career goals revolve around the arts, the complete loss of her vision would be life changing.

In November, she noticed a sudden decline in her vision and sought medical care. She was diagnosed with advanced diabetic retinopathy, including vitreous hemorrhages and retinal detachment. Initially, a specialist in Bloomington created a treatment plan that offered hope for restoring vision in both eyes, and it appeared insurance would cover treatment costs. However, at her first appointment, she was met with unexpected bills and insurance denials. After exhausting local options, Chynna learned the only provider in Illinois who would accept her insurance was located over two hours away in Wheaton, Illinois. She made the difficult trip by train, hoping for answers and treatment. Instead, she received devastating news: one eye may no longer be saved and could ultimately require removal, while doctors would attempt to preserve a small amount of vision in the other. This prognosis does not just threaten Chynna’s health, it threatens her ability to create, work, and pursue the future she has fought so hard to build.

Despite these challenges, Chynna has continued fighting for her health. She has worked to stabilize her blood sugar levels and remain consistent with ongoing medical care. Prior to this diagnosis, she had already faced major health setbacks, including temporarily losing the ability to walk due to critically low vitamin D levels. Although she is slowly regaining her strength, this latest diagnosis has created another overwhelming obstacle.

Our goal is to raise $25,000 to help Chynna access specialized treatment in Bloomington in hopes of saving both of her eyes and preserving her independence, creativity, and future. If we are unable to meet the full fundraising goal, every donation will still directly support essential medical expenses, transportation to appointments, medications, food, and emergency costs related to continuing treatment in Wheaton.

Whether you’re willing to give money, send meals, or lend a hand, your support makes a real difference.
