In Support of Christina and Baby Nevaeh

Christina and Baby Nevaeh
My sister Valerie originally set a gofundme so most of this description are her words. I have updated this as my progress changes ❤️

My sister, Christina, is fighting Stage 3 triple-negative breast cancer that was diagnosed in April at just 11 weeks pregnant and while her newborn daughter, Nevaeh, is in the NICU after being born at just 30 weeks. I’m starting this fundraiser to help her, her husband Kevin, and their two young children with medical bills and everyday living expenses during this incredibly difficult time.

Her diagnosis of Stage 3 triple-negative breast cancer is the most aggressive form of breast cancer that requires intensive treatment. She had already been through 10 cycles of chemotherapy, all while pregnant with Nevaeh. Through every appointment and uncertainty, our family has leaned on our faith and prayed for strength, healing, and protection for both mom and baby.

At 30 weeks, she developed severe preeclampsia, a serious pregnancy complication involving dangerously high blood pressure. She was also at very high risk of developing HELLP syndrome, a potentially life-threatening complication that can affect the liver, blood, and other organs. With increasing concerns for both of them, the safest option was to deliver early.

Nevaeh Maria was born weighing just over 3 pounds. She is now in the NICU, where she continues to grow stronger. We are incredibly grateful for every little milestone and for the doctors and nurses caring for her.

While her baby girl grows, my sister is recovering from delivery with her own fight far from over and will continue to have cancer treatment ahead of her for the remainder of her life while also trying to be there for her husband, Kevin, Nevaeh, and her son, Carter, who will be 3 in just a few short weeks.

She is currently on long-term leave from work to continue treatment and recover. Kevin has also had to step away from work to be there for his family. Between caring for Carter, spending time with their baby in the NICU, and managing appointments and treatments, their focus right now needs to be on getting everyone through this. With the added cost of childcare, returning to work simply isn’t realistic for them right now.

I started this fundraiser because my sister already has more than enough to carry. I want her to be able to focus on healing, continuing treatment, watching her baby girl grow stronger, and being a mom to her two babies without the added worry of how they are going to make ends meet.

Funds raised will help with hospital and medical bills for both mom and baby, groceries, household bills, necessities for the children, and other everyday expenses in the months ahead.

Through all of this, we have been reminded how much it means to be surrounded by love, prayer, and support. We continue to trust God through the uncertainty and take things one day at a time.

If you’re able to donate, any amount will make a difference. If donating isn’t possible, sharing their story or lifting this family up in prayer would mean just as much to us. We have set the goal to $10,000 as we don't know how long they will be in the trenches with the most current diagnosis, but we hope that doesn't make anyone feel pressured to donate.

Thank you for taking the time to read their story and for helping remind my sister and her family that they do not have to carry all of this alone. We are incredibly grateful for every person God places in their corner.
