My name is Chelsea, and I am a single mother to a beautiful little girl named Josie. For over a year, I have been navigating a difficult divorce and custody case while working to provide a stable, loving, and secure home for my daughter.
Over the past year, my daughter and I have worked to rebuild our lives after a major transition. We left behind the life we knew with hopes of creating a better, safer, and more stable future. While the journey has not been easy, my commitment to providing the best possible life for my daughter has never wavered.
The legal process has become financially overwhelming, with attorney fees, court costs, guardian ad litem expenses, and other related costs continuing to accumulate. As a small business owner and photographer, I work hard to support my family, but the financial strain of this case has become significant.
My goal throughout this process has been to ensure my daughter has a safe, loving, and stable environment in which to grow and thrive. I am working tirelessly to advocate for what I believe is in her best interests and to provide her with the safest and most stable life possible. However, navigating a complex custody case without legal representation has become nearly impossible.
Throughout this process, I have done everything within my power to support my daughter and manage these expenses on my own. I have continued building my photography business, often working late into the night after Josie is asleep and taking on additional clients whenever possible. There have been many occasions where Josie has accompanied me to photoshoots as I balance motherhood and entrepreneurship. I have sold personal belongings, cut expenses wherever possible, spent countless hours researching family law and preparing court documents, and advocated for both myself and my daughter every step of the way.
I would not have made it this far without the incredible support of those around me. My parents have helped me in more ways than I can ever adequately express, and I am deeply grateful for everything they have done for Josie and me. Family and friends have stepped in when I needed childcare, encouragement, or simply someone to lean on during difficult moments. Their kindness and support have helped us navigate some of the most challenging days of our lives.
To everyone who has stood beside us throughout this journey, whether through a kind word, a helping hand, sharing my work, supporting my business, or caring for Josie when I needed it most, thank you. Your support has meant more than you know.
Despite these efforts, the financial burden of an ongoing custody case has become more than I can manage alone. I am reaching out for support so that I can retain legal counsel and continue advocating for my daughter's future and well-being.
